Accessibility

• Colour and contrast. Text and background pairings in our design system are chosen to meet AA contrast, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
• Keyboard access. Interactive controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
• Screen readers. Controls carry accessible names and state, decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology, and avatars carry a text label rather than being announced as images.
• Touch targets.Buttons and tappable rows are sized for small hands, with a minimum target of 44 points in the mobile app.
• Reduced motion.Animation and celebration effects respect the system “reduce motion” setting and stop when it is on.
• Text scaling.Layouts reflow when text is enlarged, and the mobile app follows the device’s text size.
• Reading level. Each child profile carries a reading level, so a pre-reader is not handed a paragraph written for a teenager.
• Read-aloud. The mobile app can speak lesson text, which helps pre-readers and children with dyslexia.
• Parent voice. A parent can record a memory verse in their own voice, so a child can learn by ear.

We would rather list these than claim we are finished:

• We have not completed a formal third-party audit against WCAG 2.2 AA, so our conformance claim is self-assessed.
• Some older admin and parent screens predate our current design system and have not been re-checked for contrast and focus order.
• Read-aloud is available in the mobile app but not yet everywhere on the web.
• We have not tested thoroughly with switch access or voice control.

We are working through these. If one of them is blocking your child specifically, tell us and it moves up the list.

We test with VoiceOver on iOS and macOS, TalkBack on Android, keyboard navigation on desktop browsers, enlarged system text, and the reduce-motion setting on each platform.

• What you or your child were trying to do.
• Which page or screen, and on which device.
• What assistive technology you use, if any.

We aim to reply within five working days with either a fix or an honest timeline. If you need something in a different format in the meantime, ask and we will provide it.
