About
The translations we use, how the text reaches the app, and the required copyright notices.
Last updated
Bible text in Little Bereans is licensed from its publishers, not paraphrased by us. This page names the translations we use, explains how the text reaches your child, and carries the copyright notices those publishers require.
New International Version
The default text for most readers.
Used by permission of the publisher through the YouVersion Platform. All rights reserved worldwide.
New International Reader's Version
A simplified reading level, used for pre-readers and early readers.
Used by permission of the publisher through the YouVersion Platform. All rights reserved worldwide.
Berean Standard Bible
Openly licensed, and our fallback whenever a licensed version is unavailable.
The Berean Standard Bible is freely available for use, with attribution, under its publisher's open licence.
We do not keep our own copy of the Bible text. Passages are requested from the YouVersion Platform API at the moment they are needed, together with the copyright notice that publisher requires, which we display with the passage.
Those requests are made by our servers, not by your browser or your child’s device. Only the passage reference is sent. No information about you or your child goes to YouVersion — see Third-Party Services.
If a licensed version is unavailable to us, the passage falls back to the Berean Standard Bible rather than failing, and the displayed attribution changes with it so you always know which translation you are reading.
Wherever Scripture appears, the translation and its copyright notice appear with it, exactly as the publisher supplies them. Removing or obscuring those notices is a breach of our Acceptable Use Policyas well as of the publishers’ terms.
Your family may read, memorise, copy out and study these passages for your own use, as with any Bible.
What you may not do is extract the text from the product in bulk, or reproduce it in another publication, product or curriculum. Those uses need permission from the translation’s publisher, not from us. Our licence covers delivering Scripture inside Little Bereans; it does not extend to redistribution by users.
Translation names and abbreviations are the trademarks of their respective publishers. They appear here to identify the text accurately, and their use does not imply that any publisher endorses or is affiliated with Little Bereans.
If you believe a passage, an attribution or a copyright notice is displayed incorrectly, tell us at our contact form and we will correct it promptly. Rights holders with a concern about how their text is used should write to the same address and we will respond quickly.
